Study on energy saving mechanism of truck platoon based on air resistance coefficient correction

This paper studies the energy-saving problem of truck platoon. Firstly, the air resistance coefficient of platoon members is modified, and then the lower controller is established. Then, the Sliding mode variable structure control (SMC) controller based on the constant spacing policy and the PID controller based on the constant time headway spacing policy are established. TruckSim is used to simulate the three working conditions of platoon starting acceleration, platoon running at constant speed and Driving cycle, Finally, the simulation results show that the designed sliding mode controller has remarkable energy-saving effect.
