Multisectoral Sustainable Development Impacts Survey From the Application of the SDGs-IAE Framework: A Case Study

Signed in 2015 by 193 countries, the 2030 Agenda emerges today as the most important plan of action aimed at society, the planet and prosperity. Its scope includes 17 sustainable development goals and 169 related targets. To achieve these goals, all projects worldwide need to perform a thorough technical analysis, to identify the internal shortcomings and failures of their activities. In this scenario, the Sustainable Development Goals Impact Assessment Framework for Energy Projects (SDGs-IAE) acts as a support tool for mapping actions related to energy projects and subsequent decision-making. Its results are presented based on the ESG methodology (Environmental, Social and Economy), which distributes the SDGs into three large blocks related to the impacts generated in society, environment and local economy. From a maximum of 94 questions, it is possible to score synergies and trade-offs in relation to the global development goals, and through these results, identify future improvements and adjustments in the projects under study. With this scenario in mind, this paper presents a technical analysis of the efforts made in a project to bury overhead power grids and its correlation with the SDGs. The project in question is named Urban Futurability and in its study the SDGs-IAE Framework was used as support, resulting in a total of 80 possible synergies and 10 possible trade-offs.
