The advent of web surfing paved the way for internet monetization, which has become an integral part of every user’s web experience. Displaying ads on websites has been a major source of monetization of late, which often hinders the user experience. The alternate approach that seemed feasible was to utilize the users’ computer resources in exchange for an ad-free web experience. This paper attempts to research the possibility of cryptocurrency mining being the next big thing in web monetization by utilizing the untapped idle computer resources of the users and implementing this technique on a content-based educational website where mining of cryptocurrency happens by virtually utilising a minimal amount of users’ idle computer resources
