Widened Thresholded Rider Optimization Algorithm for Optimal Switching Loss Reduction in Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverter

One of the primary goals of converter design is to reduce loss, increase efficiency, and reduce thermal resistance in power electronics stress, which can lengthen a device's lifespan. In this work, Widened Thresholded Rider Optimization Algorithm (Widened T-ROA) for Optimal Switching Loss Reduction in 3- ϕ VSI is proposed. The reduction of ripple in the ac output current, and switching losses enhance the effectiveness of the inverter. By enhancing the reference angle and modulation index (MI), the switching loss is decreased. The MI and reference angle are subjected to optimization using Widened Threshold Rider optimization algorithm, where the threshold range Th of 0.1 to 1 is widened from 0.9 to 9, and the random variable r

of limit 0 to 1 is widened from 0 to 10, through which the optimal pulses are generated. Through this concept, the central tendency of the proposed Widened Threshold Rider optimization algorithm can be studied for reducing the switching loss in 3- ϕ VSI. Finally, the experimental results are carried out in MATLAB simulation.
