A New Position Error Calibration Approach to DOA Estimation for Quasi-Stationary Signals

In this paper, we consider the problem of direction of arrival (DOA) for quasi-stationary signals(QSS) in an uniform linear array (ULA) where partial sensor position errors exist. Inspired by the instrumental sensor method (ISM) and based on the Khatri-Rao (KR) subspace technique, we devise a computational efficient method to determine the DOAs. The proposed method can calculate the DOAs with no need of spectrum searching. Moreover, by exploiting the characteristic of long-term time-variation in QSS, it can estimate more signals than the number of well-calibrated signals. Based on the estimated DOAs, we propose a new sensor position error calibration method which can calculate sensor position errors one by one only if two elements have been well-calibrated in advance. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and the superiority of the proposed method.
