Detection and Tracking of Multiple Human Targets with an UWB Monopulse Radar

A prototype ultra-wideband (UWB) monopulse radar for human detection and tracking is presented in this paper. Short pulse combined with linear frequency modulation is used as the transmit signal to obtain the required bandwidth, which guarantees high range resolution. Monopulse processing is utilized to enhance angular resolution without the need of high directivity antennas. Multiple target detection and tracking are achieved by signal and data processing algorithms. Performance of the proposed radar and algorithms are demonstrated by experimental results.
