Customised Web Maps for Smart City Navigation

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is essential for building smart cities. The major challenges here are sensing traffic density, displaying and diverting the traffic with non-hackable technologies. In this work, a conventional induction loop-based sensing technique for heterogeneous and lane-less traffic is adopted, which is common in developing countries. Sensed traffic information is displayed on customized open-source maps with the help of IoT technology. Based on the traffic density, the user is suggested with less traffic path with the help of customized maps and a webserver. The proposed work is resilient to hacking, and it is an issue in probe vehicle-based traffic detection. The proposed idea may also be used for emergency vehicle navigation between urban and rural environments.
