Using Statistical Decision Making for a University Examination Scenario

This study aims to illustrate the power of statistical decision-making in a crisis scenario. It explains a scenario where one group of students who arrived late for a competitive examination were allowed to take the examination and join another group who started the exam on time at a specific exam centre. Also, all students at the exam centre availed extra time to complete the exam. It created a hue and cry by several thousand who took the exam at several other centres across the country. The paper explains a real-time decision-making scenario that could have led to cost and time delays and shows the power of the statistical making model for this real-time scenario. Statistical tools were used to resolve the crisis, which was acceptable to all the students.
