WDM-PON and WDM-PON Coherent Performance Analysis Using SMF and DCF Cables

The development of optical communication makes service providers with fast data transmission and larger capacities, one of which is fiber optic. WDM long-distance network with multiplexing technology has the advantage of transmitting a lot of data into one fiber cable. The performance of WDM long-distance transmission media requires appropriate cables so that the data received is of good quality. In fiber transmission media, there are two types of cables SMF and DCF. In addition, to see the performance of each cable, this research compared the application of two types of cables with coherent and incoherent optical detectors with variations in laser transmit power from 0 to -10dBm with an adjusted transmission distance. The system design uses non-return-to-zero modulation techniques (NRZ) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) on the transmitter side.
