Instrumentation and Analyzis of Handover in Wi-Fi Networks

Mobility is an important characteristic of pervasive communication today, providing users with mobility while keeping existing connections. This requirement is possible by transferring moving users from one access point to another, process called handover. This paper describes the measurement and instrumentation setup proposed to analyze the handover process in controller based Wi-Fi networks. Experimental results on the latency and QoS impact of different applications during the handover in an IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n network, are also provided.
