Path Towards Tbps Communications: LoS MIMO Theory, Simulation and Measurement Analysis

Motivated by increasing the data rates for future 6G networks, we present the first line-of-sight (LoS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system operating at tera-hertz (THz) frequencies using Samsung’s state-of-the-art equipment. The system performance is analyzed over different transmit and receive distances using the measured error-vector-magnitude (EVM). We further scale our analysis through simulations to a mesh network setup. We show the importance of incorporating antenna port selection at the base stations (BSs) for both flexible antenna installation and achieving optimal spectral efficiency. The consistency between the measured and simulated results indicate the roadmap for achieving Tbps speed for future 6G wireless systems.
