Effect of Dynamic Reflection Coefficient on Backscatter System in Time-Selective Scenario

In the performance evaluation of the ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) system the energy harvesting (EH) by the passive tags has been mainly overlooked. This letter investigates the impact of EH on the multi-tag AmBC system by considering non-linear EH along with time-selective fading conditions. Specifically, we derived a closed-form expression for outage probability and provide a comparative outage analysis between dynamic reflection coefficient (RC) and fixed RC. To gain additional insights, we also explored the asymptotic outage probability and diversity order when the signal to noise ratio (SNR) is very high. Our findings indicate that the use of dynamic RC decreases the outage probability as compared to fixed RC. Additionally, mobility of the reader reduces outage performance albeit with dynamic RC consideration.
