Biography
Yvon Maday is a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Saint Cloud, Lyon, France. He received the Ph.D. degree in applied maths in 1981 and the Thèse d État degree in 1987.,He was an Assistant and Associate Professor with the University of Creteil, Creteil, France, from 1981 to 1989, on leave for the last year and a half at Brown University, Providence, RI (for six months) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge (for one year). Since 1989, he has been a Full Professor with the Université Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris 6, Paris, France, where he was the Director of the Department of Mathematics from 1994 to 2001 and is currently the Director of the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions.
