Biography

Karl Leo received the Diplomphysiker degree from the University of Freiburg, Breisgau, Germany, in 1985, working with A. Goetzberger at the Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme, Breisgau, Germany, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany, with thesis performed at the Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung, Stuttgart, under the supervision of H. Queisser. From 1989 to 1991, he was Postdoctoral Researcher with AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ, USA. From 1991 to 1993, he was with the Rheinisch–Westfälische Technische Hochschule, Aachen, Germany. Since 1993, he has been a Full Professor of optoelectronics at the Technische Universität Dresden, Dresden, Germany.(Based on document published on 28 August 2015).

In conclusion, we have demonstrated that a stable EC-MLLD module can generate wavelength tunable optical clock pulses up to 40-GHz by higher-harmonic hybrid mode-locking.
