Abstract:
For the field of wireless communication, transceiver is an essential component which aids in the transmission and reception of signal through antennas. The main block of a transceiver is a band pass filter which helps in input filtering. With the advancement in IC designing all the components are embedded on chip and so the requirement of embedding the band pass filters on chip is the call of the hour. Since passive inductors were bulkier, prone to resistive losses, parasitic losses study of active devices were done to construct the filtering component using active components like VDTA, OTA. In this paper for designing of RF filters we have analyzed the two active components namely VDTA and OTA and their application in designing active filters providing a comparative study of parameters like centre frequency, bandwidth, dynamic range, quality factor, etc on 180nm CMOS technology node using spectre simulator on Cadence Virtuoso.
