I. Introduction
Electrochemical batteries are being widely used in the energy sector as main devices for energy storage applications. It is evident that recent lithium-ion battery realisations have been improving their storing capabilities over the years as a result of the increasing demand in renewable energy technologies and automotive industry, where higher energy density battery cells are desired. Besides their overall energy density, a lower cost and considerable long lifespan are a few advantages to other technologies. Although they come with some counterpoints, such as their slow dynamic response and lower power density [1], lithium-ion cells are still strong competitors.
