The adoption of renewable energy sources (RES), such as wind, fuel cells and solar has been proved as a efficiency is reduced length. For higher ratings, HVDC electrical power transmission systems are preferable than HVAC transmission systems. Losses in HVAC transmission lines generally increase as transmission distance increases due to increased resistance, inductance, and capacitance. When the skin effect and corona loss are takes place in HVAC, the transmission mentioned losses are overcome by the HVDC bipolar transmission system. In this connection, the protection of HVDC transmission lines in the power transmission network is a difficult and major problem that has been addressed in this article. The HVDC transmission line protection mechanism should ensure that the HVDC transmission system operates safely and reliably in the event of a fault . Overcurrent relays are appealing for HVDC transmission lines, however, the bandwidth of the fault current becomes quite broad owing to the intermittency of the power generation by the DERs, making them unstable[1]-[4].
