Abstract:
A microstrip line feed slotted patch antenna for 28 GHz 5G application is proposed in this paper. The −10 dB bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 4.841 GHz. The antenna can operate within 24.356 GHz to 29.197 GHz frequency range which provides a very good coverage for 28 GHz upper 5G band. The rectangular slotted antenna resonates at 25.69 GHz with return loss −42.134 dB. Rogers RT 5858 is used as substrate material with permittivity of 2.2 and tangent loss of 0.0009. The volume of the antenna is 40 mm × 30 mm × 1.575 mm. At the resonant point, the gain and directivity are 8.104 dB and 8.615 dBi, respectively. The linear gain and directivity vary from 8.02 dB – 8.54 dB and 8.05 dBi – 9.07 dBi, respectively, within the operating 28 GHz band.
