I. Introduction
The Cisco visual networking index forecasts that by the end of the year 2023, there will be 29.3 billion networked devices connected to the internet. The latest technological advancements demand more devices to be more reliant on the internet. Thus, the demand for wireless communication technologies like wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) will certainly soar in the years to come. The dense deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots in limited radio frequency band will lead to extreme competitions for the availability of channels. This dearth is what lead to the development of a new technologies that can quench the thirst of a heavily internet dependent future. This issue can be tackled by cognitive radio networks (CRN), which migrates the unused spectrum from one frequency band to another. This method does not help in generating new frequencies but only provides a temporary solution to switch from one band to the other as per the requirement. Thus, arouse the need for alternative technologies can efficiently combat the increasing traffic in the radio frequency spectrum.
