I. Introduction
Remotely operated car gates and garages are frequently encountered in modern world. In order to enable automatic gate operation a gate control system is required. Typically, there are few main parts of a gate control system (Figure 1):
actuators - typically DC motor-based linear actuators for sliding gates and rotary actuators for wing gates,
sensors - while the gate is moving, there is always a possibility of injuring people or damaging property. Photoelectric, inductive, limit switches and Hall-effect based sensors are frequently used to identify the state of the gate, monitor the motor, detect people, cars and obstacles,
indicators - light and sound indicators are used to notify and warn that the gate is moving,
control and communication box - control module that collects data from sensors, controls actuators, light and sound indicators and enables the communication between the device and the user. This is the most important part of the system for the safe operation of the gate.
