I. Introduction
Lung cancer is one of the deadliest diseases with significant occurrence in many countries around the globe. Recently, International Agency for Research on Cancer, functioning under the aegis of World Health Organization published a profound statistics in which it singled out lung cancer as the leading death causing cancer among various cancers. There are nearly 14 million new cancer cases being detected each year among which lung cancer accounts for 13%, i.e., 1.83 million new cases every year. Asia, the biggest continent, has an alarming 15.5% cases due to lung cancer among different cancer types. In India, it was found to be about 65,970 cases out of 1014934 new cancer cases every year [1]. Lung nodules are probable indicators of lung cancer. Early detection of these nodules may increase the five-year survival rate of lung cancer patients up to 65 to 80% [2]. From this, it is evident that early detection of lung nodules should be done.
