I. Introduction
The automated segmentation of abdominal organs from radiological images has always been a challenging task. Renal segmentation is not an exception and the difficulty of segmentation varies from one imaging modality to another. Nowadays various imaging modalities are used such as CT, MRI, US, etc. to evaluate and analyze kidney pathologies, cyst, tumors, etc. Among all available imaging techniques, CT is usually preferred by radiologists because it provides high-resolution images with good anatomical details [1]. CT has the advantages of widespread availability, more rapid examination time in comparison with MR imaging, and lower cost than MR imaging [2].
