Abstract:
This paper presents a dynamic pole placement procedure, based on a static state feedback to improve the performance of target control infusion (TCI) in the control of the neuromuscular blockade (NMB) level by administration of the muscular relaxant rocuronium, with particular emphasis on the reduction of both the average administered dose and the settling time. To apply this procedure, a suitable identification method for the patient model parameters, based on the model structure, is used. The resulting individualized control method of drug dosage for continuous infusion was validated by simulations based on real data collected during surgeries.
