I. Introduction
Image quality assessment (IQA) is essential to various visual signal processing applications. Quality issues for traditional 2D media have been extensively studied, and many criteria and tools have been proposed [1]–[5]. Recently, owing to the booming of 3D video and the related technologies, the demands for 3D-IQA are urgent. Compared with the traditional 2D case, 3D quality (also denoted as 3D quality of experience (QoE) in some literatures) needs to account for both 2D image quality, and 3D quality factors, like depth perception [6], visual comfort [7], and others [8]. However, understanding of various perceptual factors that affect the 3D assessment of color-plus-QoE remains limited.
