I. Introduction
Cases of skin cancer occurrence has been increasing at a rapid rate in recent years. Melanoma causes a majority of skin cancer deaths and there were estimated 232, 000 reported cases around the world in 2012 from the latest year of available data according to the World Health Organization [1]. The American Cancer Society also states that the rate increases gradually each year and age gap of affect people has gradually expanded with people under 45years old accounting for 25% of cases [2]. While cases of melanoma are rare in black Africans, the survival rate is much lower than other races [3]. The increased exposure to UV light and degradation of the ozone layer also increases the risk in darker skinned races as well [5]. Early detection is therefore important to be treated early as the chances for long term survival are much better. However, if not detected early it becomes harder to treat and survival rate lowers significantly [4].
