I. Introduction
The International Energy Agency reported in 2016 that power consumption has dramatically increased over the last 25 years [1]. Importantly, buildings account for about 40% of the total energy consumption [2]. This ever-increasing reliance on electricity, with inefficient consumption patterns, has led to serious economical and environmental threats. Demand response (also known as demand-side management) [3] has been known as a smart and sustainable solution to optimize power consumption and minimize electricity loads, and thus played an important role in helping to counteract these trends.
