I. Introduction
Current power grid in the U.S. is going through a major transformation to provide several new services/applications by creating an underlying two-way communication infrastructure [1], [2]. Through the deployment of smart meters (SMs) and smart data collections techniques, a smart grid (SG) is being formed. One part of the SG initiative that is currently being implemented is the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), which provides two-way communication between the utility company and consumers’ SMs. The utility companies can use this AMI to monitor power demands over short periods, provide more accurate billing as well as utilize dynamic pricing to facilitate the reduction of peak demand [2].
