I. Introduction
Polarization division multiplexing (PDM) is one of the key technologies which can greatly improve the system capacity [1], [2]. It has already been implemented in the commercial 40G/100G transmission systems. In the PDM systems, coupling will randomly allocate the signals on different polarizations at the output. Digital signal processing (DSP) techniques [3]– [15], especially the DSP technique based on the blind algorithms can help to de-multiplex the signals. Blind equalization algorithms such as the independent component analysis (ICA) [4] and the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) [5], [6] can track the randomly varying channel automatically, and they have higher spectral efficiency as no additional transmission overhead is required. In the existing PDM systems, CMA is well implemented due to its simplicity and good performance [5]–[11] .
