I. Introduction
This paper presents an analytical investigation into magnet eddy current losses in interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors used in traction applications. A plethora of works have been published in the field of magnet loss computation; however, most of the works are focused on surface permanent magnet motors [1], [2]. A majority of high-speed drives used in electric vehicles employ IPMs wherein magnet eddy current losses can be significantly higher compared with other designs, especially in flux weakening conditions [3].
