I. Introduction
In addition to their great historical value, the scientific value of bronze artefacts should not be underestimated. However, bronze artefacts are highly susceptible to rusting, in which harmful rust slowly erodes into the interior of the artefact, eventually destroying the entire bronze artefact, and through exposure to harmful rust, erodes other bronze artefacts, leading to a shortened life span of the exposed bronze artefact until it is pulverised [1]. Therefore, rust marking of bronzes is necessary and an important basis for the development of conservation programmes for bronzes.
