I. Introduction
THE Toroidal Field Conductor Insert (TFCI) is one of the changeable insert coils [1], [2] tested in the inner bore of the 13 T ITER Central Solenoid Model Coil (CSMC) [2] to confirm the validity of design and fabrication techniques of the various parts of the ITER superconducting magnets. The TF Insert showed lower properties in comparison with the single strand data: reduction of Tcs and Ic at and significant reduction of the N-value [3]. These data was very valuable for selection of the safety margin for fusion magnets and required a post-examination of the TFCI winding. The aim was to check:
the integrity and compliance of TFCI constructional elements [2] with the design specifications.
the position of the conductor and temperature sensors within the TFCI winding.
the position of the cable inside the conductor jacket.
