I. Introduction
Mixed-signal verification (MSV) is rife with redundancy and reuse opportunities. Many separate teams are involved with MSV verification in overlapping roles. Architects develop testbenches and testcases for their architectural models to verify architectural specifications. The design verification team will develop similar testbenches and testcases that will not only verify architectural specifications, but additional implementation specifications, such as low-power modes, test-modes, power-up sequences, etc. Post-silicon validation teams develop again testbenches in the lab with testcases that will test the architecture, implementation, and additional device characteristics. Because there is no equivalent to scan testing or automated test pattern generation for analog, production test engineers must develop functional testcases for production testing that are a subset of all previous verification testcases.
