Privacy-Enhancing Technologies
The Center for Democracy and Technology defines PETs as software, hardware, or documentation that helps users protect their privacy on the Internet. A wide range of PETs are currently available; we examine three that are prevalent in e-commerce settings, focusing primarily on P3P because it's unique in its dependence on both user- and vendor-side actions.
