Abstract:
In most courses, an easy explanation of the influence of feedback capacitance connected between collector and base (or drain and gate) of a transistor is usually done using the Miller effect approach. While input capacitance is correctly presented and the dominant pole deciding about the cutoff frequency calculated, the zero and the second pole of the transfer function are not given. In this contribution a new approach to that problem is presented and compared with an accurate (but involved) calculation and with computer simulation using the HSPICE simulation program.
