Abstract:
Wake-induced oscillations of bundled conductors are caused by aerodynamic shielding of leeward conductors of a bundle by windward ones. An analysis of these instabilities in a previous paper was based on use of normal wave propagation modes in the transfer matrix method. This paper extends that analysis to take into account effects of support mobility, conductor torsion, catenarity and unequal subconductor tensions, and to permit its application to bundles having more than two subconductors.
